7:23PM

FULL TIME

Chelsea hang on but that could have been so much easier.

7:21PM

90 mins+2 - Hull 1 Chelsea 2

Pedro trudges off as Lamptey comes on to replace him. That wastes a bit of time. Chelsea clearing their lines every time it goes near the defence now.

7:20PM

90 mins - Hull 1 Chelsea 2

End to end stuff going into the final few minutes of the match. Chelsea aren't managing this very well at all and Zouma has just been booked for dissent, after making a clear foul by coming through from behind. That's a silly tackle to make and an even dumber reaction. Hull can get this chipped into the area now.

7:18PM

88 mins - Hull 1 Chelsea 2

Samuelson now finds a way to attack down the right wing and wins a corner. Big chance for Hull here... it's chipped in and headed back across but again Chelsea get it away.

7:16PM

86 mins - Hull 1 Chelsea 2

Ooooooh there's a chance here! Grosicki is played in with support in a two v two! Zouma comes across to cover and shows him wide, which is exactly where Grosicki goes and then shoots across goal, blasting wide. Good covering from Zouma.

7:12PM

83 mins - Hull 1 Chelsea 2

A cross into the area gets the crowd excited but again Chelsea deal with the danger.

Gilmour goes for a shot from 25 yards because why not? The Bard (Scottish one) would approve.

7:09PM

81 mins - Hull 1 Chelsea 2

That goal should change the way Hull feel about this! A nervy final 10 minutes for Chelsea to see out!

7:07PM

GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!

GROSICKI SCORES!

Hull 1 Chelsea 2

Grosicki shoots towards goal and Kovacic jumps out of the wall, deflecting the ball into his own net! It's awful defending by Kovacic! Caballero thought he had the wall set up but there's nothing he can do when a big chunk of it leaps out of the way of the shot.

7:07PM

78 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 2

Caballero is shouting a lot of things at his defensive wall, who seem a little terrified of him while he sets it up. Hull have a chance to pull one back from 22 yards.

7:04PM

75 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 2

Chelsea are just trying to add to their two goals now. Hull seem to have accepted their fate :-(

Constant Chelsea attacks and now PEDRO IS IN AGAIN! He chips the keeper with a little dink inside seven yards.... and it's the side netting. The third is coming. Hull look like they'd take it if the referee blew the final whistle.

7:01PM

72 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 2

So close to a third. Kovacic wins the ball with a slide tackle in the final third, Willian plays a smart reverse pass into Pedro and he ends up putting his shot just wide of the far post.

6:59PM

70 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 2

And more Burns night celebrations as Josh Magennis, star of Aberdeen, St Mirren and Kilmarnock, enters the field of play. He's actually from Northern Ireland but the SPFL still counts.

Samuelson is also on for Hull.

6:57PM

67 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 2

I wonder how Hull will respond to that second goal. If they were really determined to win this they'll start revving up but it seems more likely they've had the fight knocked out of them.

Chelsea send on Willian and BILLY GILMOUR (BURNS NIGHT ALARM ACTIVATED AWWWWOOOOOOOGA).

Mount and Hudson-Odoi off.

6:53PM

GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!

TOMORI SCORES!

Hull 0 Chelsea 2

Tomori escapes his marker, runs through to the back post in space and heads down past the goalkeeper. That should be the game sealed.

6:53PM

63 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Mount is chopped down by Lichaj, who is booked for it. It takes Mount a good minute or so to get back to his feet but he should be OK to continue. He's hobbling and does genuinely seem like it'll take a few minutes to get over. Not sure he'll be able to take the free-kick though.

6:50PM

62 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Kamil Grosicki, who joined Hull when they were in the Premier League, comes on for Wilks, who I don't think I've mentioned all game long.

6:49PM

60 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Bowen is causing real problems! He takes a lovely touch in the centre circle and has space to attack, bursts through the middle and gets a shot away which rises over the bar. Can absolutely see why bigger clubs are after this boy.

6:47PM

58 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Another thing Hull are doing is getting tight to Kovacic whenever he receives the ball. That one little tweak has completely disrupted Chelsea's buildup.

6:45PM

55 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Batshuayi cuts out the corner at the near post.

Hull are so much better in this half, more composed on the ball, actually passing it to teammates and following up to prevent Chelsea breaking so easily. It's forcing Chelsea deeper and allowing Hull to keep possession.

6:43PM

54 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Great feet by Eaves to shield the ball then roll it past a tackle to keep the move going.

Bowen has just controlled the ball with a keep-uppy while running, while turning away from goal, while the pass is falling out the sky. It's so sexy. Love a first touch. Hull win a corner.

6:39PM

51 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Bowen's already done more in the first three minutes of this than he did in the entire first half. He gets away from Alonso on the right wing and into the box, winning a corner. That corner is curled in and Chelsea deal with it. Or do they?! Pedro messes about for way too long and nobody offers a short pass so he has to clear, but it's blocked and Hull very nearly find a way to get a shot on goal.

6:37PM

48 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Comedy tackle by Kovacic, who slides in to stop Bowen running into the box and takes an obvious yellow card. No changes from either team as far as I can tell yet.

6:34PM

KICK OFF 2

The teams are back! Chelsea first, Hull later. Chelsea kick the football first.

6:33PM

Still no teams

How many oranges are they eating?!

6:18PM

HALF TIME

There's a late chance for Chelsea as Azpilicueta springs onto a cross in the box and shoots across goal but the keeper was always saving it. And that's that.

Chelsea pretty comfortable here and look capable of going up a gear or two but Hull are only one goal down. A screamer, or something scrappy from a second ball might be all they need. I suspect Hull will go a bit longer and sit their midfielders deeper in the second half.

6:15PM

45 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Eaves is able to chest the ball down and shoot (if that's what it was) but Caballero easily smothers. Hull then win a free-kick and will presumably look to find the Big Man (Eaves) in the box. Instead they let Zouma head it back and then pass straight out for a throw.

6:13PM

42 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Barkley's gotten away with one here. He tries to do a little flick turn in the centre circle and is easily dispossessed but Hull just can't take advantage.

6:10PM

39 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Mount has a tendency to overrun his third touch when dribbling. First touch great, second helps him run, third goes an extra yard ahead and gives defenders a chance to tackle him.

6:07PM

36 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Bowen has the ball in the centre of the pitch, runs towards the box and tries a shot.... but it's blocked. Hull keep up the pressure and manage to get another shot away from inside the area but Caballero can catch.

6:06PM

34 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Chelsea are over playing. They're being given so much time on the ball in Hull's half - not because the Hull players aren't working hard - and not getting shots away when they need to. This has the worrying feel of a classic '1-0 until the 87th minute, denied by 30 yard screamer' kinda game.

6:02PM

31 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Bowen - remember him? - gets on the ball as Hull are finally given a turn in possession. It's easily defended and Chelsea win a goal kick.

6:01PM

30 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Mount takes a brilliant first touch to beat a defender and then delivers a cross exactly where a striker should be to finish. For no obvious reason, Batshuayi has dropped away from the only position he really needed to be in.

5:59PM

27 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Mount drops to help build up, drops the shoulder to turn a man and drives 40 yards with the ball, spreading play wide to Hudson-Odoi. He beats the full-back and crosses to the near post but it's blocked before Pedro can head at goal. Hull still haven't addressed any of the problems that their press is creating... but it is still only 1-0 so maybe they're right to do so. It shouldn't be so easy for Chelsea to play through the lines.

5:55PM

24 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Another Chelsea attack is blocked by a lucky defender or last gasp slide tackle. They need to not waste this spell because there is no way Hull won't address the spacing in the second half to fix it.

Hull still trying to press really high up the pitch, which is part of the reason they're short of numbers when Chelsea get beyond their first and second lines.

5:52PM

21 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Hull's passing has been shoddy so far and out of possession they are leaving so many gaps for these Chelsea attacks through the middle.

5:51PM

20 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Pedro's choice of pass is interesting too. You can see the obvious low diagonal ball is on for Azpilicueta to run onto but Pedro hits it way ahead of that so that the full-back has to get forward to reach it. It means Chelsea are instantly in the final third rather than needing another pass to take the move another step closer to the box.

5:49PM

18 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Great move by Chelsea, who are being allowed to attack exactly how Lampard must want them to, with third man runs and midfielders breaking between defenders to get onto through balls. Barkley is put through by Mount but pokes his shot at the goalkeeper and is denied.

5:46PM

15 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Pedro is such a good footballer. He spots the space from 40 yards back and chips a long pass into Batshuayi, who takes it down and has a deflected shot hit the side netting. The corner is cleared.

5:43PM

12 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

The switched pass is always on for Chelsea from left to right but despite a great first touch, Hudson-Odoi loses out to the defender and Hull counter. Hudson-Odoi chases as Hull come forward and Caballero has to scoop away a cross that nearly lands with Eaves inside six yards.

5:41PM

9 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Chelsea are winning the ball deep in their own half and quickly getting up the pitch, moving it forward with minimal touches, switching play and stretching the pitch. There's a fairly obvious gap in quality between these two sides already.

5:38PM

GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!

Chelsea take the lead!

Hull 0 Chelsea 1

Their first attack of the game. Batshuayi has the ball in the net after a brilliant cross field pass from Kovacic finds Azpilicueta, who crosses into the area. It's a horrible ball but Mount takes it down and his deflected shot ends up with Batshuayi to finish.

5:36PM

5 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 0

Hull are pressing high and with energy in the opening minutes to try and catch Chelsea out. They don't need to try that hard when Alonso is passing the ball straight to them. Eaves is played into the area, Zouma sees the ball behind and is then surprised to give away a corner. Looked like he touched the ball.

The referee spots a foul in the area anyway so it's a free-kick to Chelsea rather than a corner.

5:34PM

3 mins - Hull 0 Chelsea 0

Hull get the ball to Bowen early on and he goes across to take the corner he wins. The ball is hooked in and headed away at the near post, Bowen gets it back and then boots the ball out.

5:32PM

KICK OFF

The stadium announcer guy is absolutely screaming stuff at the crowd to get them fired up. He sounds like he's the hype man in a nu-metal band. Jeez pal chill out a bit.

5:29PM

Here come the players

A sold out stadium for tonight's match. I'm a fan of the tiger stripes on Hull's kits.

5:20PM

Jared Bowen

If you're not clued up on Hull, the boy to watch today is Jared Bowen, who has been linked to a heap of big clubs because he's managed to score and assist a total of 22 goals this season despite being a winger.

He's 23 years old, English, and can play right midfield, as a 10 or a nine and likes to run with the ball. Newcastle are said to be really interested.

5:10PM

Frank Lampard still loves the FA Cup

Get ourselves right, our mindset, how we approach the game. I know the Championship very well and we have to understand that and get it right.

Won it as a player, loved it every time I won it, the players have to feel the same everywhere they're from. We have to tackle it head on.

4:52PM

Burns night

As I'm sure you're aware, tonight is Burns night and all the players are currently having haggis out on the pitch to celebrate. The managers are on a wee glass of whisky. I am wearing a kilt. One of these last three things is 100 per cent true.

In terms of other Scottish involvement, Stephen Kingsley is on the Hull bench and is actually Scottish, while Josh Magennis spent a good bit of his career playing there.

Billy Gilmour is on the Chelsea bench and could also make an appearance.

4:34PM

Starting lineups

Eight changes for Chelsea, which don't really look like changes. Tomori, Zouma, Batshuayi, Pedro, Barkley, Alonso and Mount have all played a lot this season but Caballero in goal is an obvious difference.

4:24PM

The FA Cup is nice

Hello there, are you excited for the FA Cup? A lot of managers really aren't and have begun fielding reserve XIs so that they do slightly better in their next domestic league fixture instead and it's maybe taking a bit of the prestige out of giant killing. Hull vs Chelsea is less a potential giant kill and more bigger kid knock out, especially if Frank Lampard decides to pick his B team.

Team news will be with us in a bit, and we can work out how much Lampard cares about it then and whether Grant McCann thinks this is Hull's year... but I reckon both will rotate quite a bit.

Chelsea aren't going to win the league, are having to work hard to stay in the Champions League spots and pressure is inevitably building on the manager as everyone begins to work out what he's actually bringing to the table. Lampard wants reinforcements but should have more than enough in supply to get rid of a team sitting 12th in the Championship.

We can't really tell what's going to happen until those wonderful team sheets come through but there is certainly less pressure on Hull to deliver here and that could make the difference.
