The Human Centipede 2 only makes £942

Only equates to a paltry £94 per screen

‘The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)’ made just £942 in its opening weekend.

It only opened on 10 screens, but this still equates to a paltry £94 per screen – a dismal start the film’s short box office run.

It’s a huge disappointment for the filmmaking team, who would have been hoping for similar success to last year’s predecessor ‘The Human Centipede (First Sequence)’ which debuted to £6,145 from 14 screens in August 2010.

Contrast with the week’s box office hit ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’ which enjoyed its second week in the number one spot and took £2.2million from 510 screens.

After a little number crunching, that works out at over £4,000 a screen and puts the bleak £92 into perspective.

‘The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)’ enjoyed a huge amount of publicity after it was initially banned by the BBFC. They reversed their decision after two minutes and 37 seconds were cut, and it was given an 18 certificate for release.
