Hunger Games stars spill the beans on Mockingjay
Katniss in 'Mockingjay'

COMMENT | As worldwide promotion of 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' continues, and 'Hunger Games' fans wait with baited breath for the release of the second movie in the series, the cast, crew, director and producer of the 'Hunger Games' series have already turned their attention to the production of the third movie. 'Mockingjay' will be based on the third and final novel in the 'Hunger Games' trilogy of books, but will be split up into two movies for filming.

Some of the stars from 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire', and director Francis Lawrence, have been talking about the 'Mockingjay' which they have already begun filming. In fact, 'Mockingjay' has been in production for over a month, and enough work has already been done on the movie for the key players to have formed a few opinions (SPOILER ALERT: if you don't know what happens in 'Mockingjay', don't read on!).

Jennifer Lawrence has been talking about 'Mockingjay', her early experiences with shooting the film, and her favourite scenes from the third movie in the 'Hunger Games' series. Lawrence named a scene that she had already filmed as her favourite so far, mentioning the sequence in which Katniss is upset because the Capitol have bombed District 13. During this scene, Katniss hides in air vent and chats with Woody Harrelson's Haymitch character, who is reassuring her to some extent. Lawrence also stated that she was having a great time shooting the third movie in the series and couldn't wait to see it on the big screen (although we haven't had the chance to see the second one yet, Jennifer...).

Francis Lawrence also gave 'Hunger Games' fans a few clues about what we can expect from the third movie. Lawrence stated that splitting the 'Mockingjay' novel up into two movies will give the director the opportunity to put a bit more substance from the book into the films, and even throw in a few surprises and additions. Lawrence predicted that each of the 'Mockingjay' movies would be slightly shorter than 'Catching Fire' will is a lengthy film due to the fact that they're trying to cram a 400 page book onto the silver screen and retain as much of it as possible.

Liam Hemsworth also stated that he was relishing the shooting process for the third movie, as Gale has a lot more screen time in the third movie. He said that overall it is an absolute pleasure to be part of the 'Hunger Games' series, mainly due to the great cast, crew and director that the films have.

While 'Catching Fire' is now just days away, 'Mockingjay: Part 1' will be released on 21st November, 2014, while the second part will follow exactly a year later.
