"Concrete Cowboy coming to Netflix April 2," he wrote. "You are who you ride with."
Adapted from Greg Neri's novel Ghetto Cowboy, the film centres on Cole (played by Stranger Things' Caleb McLaughlin), a teenager who discovers the subculture of urban horse-riding when he moves to his estranged father Harp's (Elba) house in North Philadelphia.
Directed by Ricky Staub in his feature film debut, Concrete Cowboy also boasts the acting talents of Orange Is the New Black's Lorraine Toussaint, Creed II star Dominic Jackson and Method Man.
It originally premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival.
Concrete Cowboy has received positive reviews so far, with its Rotten Tomatoes score sitting at 77% at the time of writing.
Digital Spy previously wrote about the real-life club that inspired the movie – the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club – and how it's part of a century-long tradition of urban horse riding in the African-American community in Philadelphia.
Elba will be seen later this year in Worlds of DC movie The Suicide Squad, playing Robert DuBois, aka Bloodsport.
Concrete Cowboy streams on Netflix from Friday, April 2.
