Kemp is hoping that be appearing on the ITV series he will become known for being more than just ‘Martin Kemp’s son’.

He said: “I am always referred to as Martin Kemp’s son so it would be nice for everyone to get to know me a bit better.”

Kemp revealed the Spandau Ballet singer is a big fan of the show, saying: “My dad loves it. He is ready to find the worst freeze frame possible of my face and put it out on social media!”

They will be joined by former Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, 34, who has a five-year-old daughter with retired American football player Jason Bell, along with the 53-year-old Arsenal and England star turned sports pundit Ian Wright MBE.

Coyle claims she is scared of “everything”.

She revealed: “My sister’s husband is an ex marine. He did offer to do some marine training with me in the run up to it but I thought that was a bit too extreme!”

Wright claims to have been asked to take part in the series every year and has always turned it down because “there was more and more jeopardy involved.” But he was won over by watching the great “camaraderie” in last year’s series which saw 72-year-old former football manager Harry Redknapp crowned King of the Jungle.

Wright said: “Harry and I play golf together and we spoke about it. He had a really great time, it was a fantastic thing for him to do and he is still talking about it to this day!

“The prestige of becoming ‘King of the Jungle’ is great kudos. You have seen how popular Harry has become but you can’t go in trying to win.”

Also taking on the challenge of the ITV reality show is EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa, 27, best known for playing Lauren Branning in the BBC soap for eight years. She has two young daughters - one aged four and another who is only 17-months-old - with former The Only Way Is Essex star Dan Osborne.

The soap actress said: “It’s going to be so difficult going in as me and that’s definitely going to be the hardest part. I have never done a show where I have been myself.

“I think people think I am a pushover or a doormat. I also think some people pity me. I want to show I am fine, I am up for a laugh and that I will go for it and try my best.”

She will be joined by Myles Stephenson, 28, of X Factor-winning boyband Rak-Su and 52-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway.

Stephenson is volunteering to be the camp cook. He revealed: “I love cooking and I cook every night if I am not touring. My favourite meal is Beef Wellington or West Indian food. You don’t get much to mess around with in the Jungle but I will try my best. I am alright on little food. If I am in the right mentality, I can work perfectly fine with minimal food as I am used to it.”

Garraway is hoping to fly the flag for older women by appearing on the show, and admitted she will be relieved to be cut off from news and social media for a while.

She explained: “I can’t remember a time when I haven’t read a paper or even when I am abroad, watched the news on a TV or your phone. But maybe one of the joys of doing I’m a Celebrity will be not talking about Brexit! Maybe that could be this year’s thing and nobody is allowed to talk about Brexit because I have been talking about Brexit since the year before the referendum!”

And completing the line-up are 40-year-old Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts and 34-year-old rugby player James Haskell, who is married to Chloe Madeley the daughter of TV presenters Richard and Judy.

Roberts has some experience of reality TV, having found fame on the third series of Big Brother back in 2002.

She revealed she is planning to grill her fellow campmates for gossip.

Roberts said: “I am thinking that I might make a little studio in the camp and draw a line. When people cross over the line, they are in my studio and I will interview them (like I do on my radio programme).”

Haskell claims that beneath his tough, laddish exterior, he is actually a bit of a softie.

He said: “I am very aware I am like marmite - you either love me or hate me. I created this persona amusingly for jokes about being a lad. But I am not like that at all. I am not going in to try to change perception. I just want to have fun!”
