Inbetweeners 2 Summer Release Date Revealed

The first film broke UK box office records and now the release date for the Inbetweeners sequel has been revealed.

The Inbetweeners 2, starring the same four characters from the E4 comedy, will open in the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, August 6.

The film will see friends Will, Simon, Neil and Jay, played by Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley, travel to Australia for a holiday.

Filming began Down Under in December and moved to the UK in January.

Inbetweeners creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, who wrote the script and directed the big-screen comedy, said at the time: "We can't say too much as we don't want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos.

"And Australians. And possibly koalas."

The 2011 film, set in Crete, became the most successful British comedy of all time, taking a huge £13.22m in its opening weekend.

The original television show, which ran for three series from 2008, followed the sixth form friends while they experimented with alcohol and attempted to get girlfriends.

A US version of the series was shown in 2012 but ended after just one series.
