Incredibles 2 has hit $1 billion at the worldwide box office quicker than any other animated movie in history.

It’s taken 47 days for the Pixar hit to pull in its billion, and is all the more impressive considering that it’s yet to open in 14 more countries, including Germany, Italy, and Japan.

The movie was also only released in the UK on July 13, over a month later than the US release in June, which was delayed so that it didn’t clash with the World Cup.

In the US alone, it’s made $573 million, only the fourth movie ever to make more than half of its receipts domestically, after The Dark Knight, Black Panther and Rogue One.

It joins animated movies Frozen, Minions, Toy Story 3, Finding Dory, Despicable Me 3, and Zootropolis in tipping over the billion dollar mark.

And the Parr family could now coneceivabley have Frozen in its sights, the all-time animated movie record holder, which made $1.27 billion in 2013.

Though the movie was hotly-anticipated, thanks to the enduring affection for the original, released in 2004, roundly celebratory reviews have helped its cause.

It currently holds a 93 percent ‘fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

For Disney, it means that it now had 18 movies to have made more than a billion dollars, with the Mouse House commanding a massive 35 percent of the US box office.
