Indian Film Festival of LA Announces ‘Haraamkhor,’ ‘Dhanak’ To Show During Galas

The 13th annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles has announced its kick-off and closing films.

The world premiere of “Haraamkhor,” written and directed by Shlok Sharma and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will show at the opening gala on April 8. The U.S. premiere of Nagesh Kukunoor ‘s award-winning “Dhanak (Rainbow)” will close the festival on April 12.

Kukunoor (pictured), Sharma, Siddiqui, and “Haraamkhor”‘s producer Guneet Monga will also be in attendance at the fest.

“Haraamkhor” tells the story of a young student falling for a 15-year-old classmate and his efforts to win her affection. However, she’s having an affair with her teacher, played by Siddiqui.

“Dhanak (Rainbow)” is a story about a sister leading her blind 9-year-old brother across Rajasthan in an attempt to meet Shah Rukh Kahn, with the promise that he’ll get his vision back before his birthday.

The festival’s complete lineup will be announced March 10.
