A request by one of the actresses who starred in the anti-Islam film 'Innocence of Muslims' to have the trailer removed from YouTube has been denied.

Cindy Lee Garcia filed a lawsuit against Google, which owns the video site, and the man who's said to have produced the film, but a California judge would not uphold the request.

Judge Luis Lavin said that this was partly because the man who had made the film had not been served with his copy of the lawsuit.

It's thought the film was made by producer Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, who has gone into hiding following the wave of anti-American violence around that world that has flared up because of the film's derogatory depiction of the prophet Mohammad.

Garcia, who is also suing Nakoula for fraud and slander, has said that she has received death threats, and that she was entirely unaware of the film's anti-muslim content when filming it.

“My whole life has been turned upside down in every aspect,” she said. “My family has been threatened. I think it's demoralising, degrading. I think it needs to come off [YouTube].”

YouTube has, however, removed it from 'countries where it is considered illegal by local authorities', including Egypt, Libya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

Protests linked to the film have resulted in the deaths of 30 people around the world, including Chris Stephens, the ambassador to US in Libya.
