Killian is the co-creator of the ‘Extremis Virus’, a nanotechnology intended to breeds super soldiers, only the sneaky scientist doesn’t use his knowledge for good. Maybe he was tempted because his name goes so well with villain?

Pearce had previously described the role as “cameo stuff”, similar to his turn in last year’s ‘Prometheus’, naming Ben Kingsley’s Madarin as the real villain of the movie.

However fellow bad guy James Badge Dale, playing Coldblood, recently teased that there may be more to Pearce’s character than it seems, telling Showbizz411: "Ben Kingsley is the mouthpiece. Guy Pearce is the brain. I’m the muscle.”

Here’s Marvel’s official synopsis for the film, starring Robert Downey Jr.:

“When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

'Iron Man 3', directed by Shane Black, opens in the UK 26 April 2013.
