Is Mad Max: Fury Road’s George Miller a Producer on Justice League?

‘Mad Max’ series director George Miller may be a producer on Warner Bros/DC’s upcoming ‘Justice League,’ it has emerged.

The movie will see ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ director Zack Snyder continue in his role as key director of the DC movie universe, in a massive, two-volume superhero epic.

The first film is set to begin photography in London this April - and an online casting call for supporting roles and extras at Acting Auditions (brought to our attention by Screen Crush) would appear to confirm some interesting tidbits.

Firstly, it is revealed that the film - given full title ‘The Justice League Part One’ - will shoot under the code name ‘Caveman,’ and that it will shoot at the Warner Bros Studios facility in Leavesden.

The casting call would also appear to confirm the central cast of Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Ezra Miller as The Flash - as well as Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Amber Heard as Mera.

But most intriguingly, George Miller is listed as a producer, alongside the producers we already knew about: Deborah Snyder, Charles Roven, Barrie Osborne and Dan Lin.

This is an intriguing development, as Miller infamously came very close to making a ‘Justice League’ movie back in 2008, entitled ‘Justice League: Mortal,’ before a variety of setbacks scuppered the film before shooting was able to start.

Miller’s ‘Justice League’ cast would have included Armie Hammer as Batman, DJ Cotrona as Superman and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman.

It had also been rumoured not long ago that Miller might be in the frame to direct the next ‘Superman’ solo film - but, given the 70-year old Australian director says he’s worn out doing large scale action movies after ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ we probably shouldn’t hold our breath there.

Regardless, if he is on board as a producer on ‘Justice League,’ he should be able to make his presence felt in the DC movie universe.

Miller is among the nominees for Best Director for his work on ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ at the 2016 Oscars, to be presented this Sunday, 28 February.

‘The Justice League Part One’ is due in cinemas November 2017, with Part Two scheduled for June 2019.

Before that ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ will set the stage on 25 March.
