Oscar Isaac has revealed his excitement at being a part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe.

The ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ star was revealed to have been cast in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sequel last month, alongside ‘Attack the Block’ actor John Boyega, ‘About Time' star Domhnall Gleeson, ‘Girls’ favourite Adam Driver and newcomer Daisy Ridley.

While all the ‘Star Wars’ actors are inevitably sworn to secrecy regarding plot details, Isaac has expressed his joy at fulfilling a childhood dream - revealing himself a longtime fan of the franchise.

“I could not be more excited to be a part of the ‘Star Wars’ saga,” he told The Sunday Times.

“It still seems hard to believe. ‘Star Wars’ is a huge part of my family. Collecting toys, throwing themed parties. We had a big one for Return of the Jedi. I came as a gonk droid.”

A gone droid, eh? Let’s hope his part in ‘Episode VII’ is somewhat more meaty.

It seems the opportunity to collaborate with Abrams is also a big plus for the actor. Speaking to the newspaper a few days before his casting was announced, Isaac praised the director, saying: “There are some big movies that are quite good. And interesting, and have interesting stories.

“I think one person in particular is J.J., J.J. Abrams. He makes really good stories. He puts a lot of heart into them. They don’t feel like they’re just exploitive.

“I think there are a lot of different films you can be surprised by, and that have the element of the unknown and I think it is very important. It’s very important. That’s why I do understand some secrecy with certain films, not wanting to let it out.”

‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ will also see original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprise their roles, and is set to hit cinemas on December 18, 2015.

Isaac will next be seen starring alongside Kirsten Dunst in thriller ‘The Two Faces Of January’, due out on 16th May.
