Arrested Development and Rango star Isla Fisher has addressed speculation that her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, based his character Borat on her father.

The actress shared a photo of her old man on Instagram recently, and his facial hair caused fans to make the comparison in the comments. Isla and Sacha met in 2002 and got engaged in 2004, with Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan coming out in 2007.

Well, appearing on Australia's The Project, the star was asked if Borat was inspired by her dad, much to her amusement.

Isla denied there was any direct basing, but did humorously note the similarities.

"My father has also dabbled in many types of facial hair. He's grown a long beard, a short beard, you know, sideburns, no sideburns, a handlebar moustache, pencil thin moustache.

"He's definitely rocked many looks over the ages. In that [Instagram] photo, it does seem like it's a nod to that character. But no, he's just a very dapper gent expressing himself."
