Now is the time to bring back ‘Legally Blonde’, according to Elle Woods herself Reese Witherspoon, 14 years after the last film in the comedy series.

Speaking to E! News, the actress, who previously said she’d like to see ditsy lawyer Woods in the White House, was also asked about President-elect Donald Trump.

In regards to a ‘Legally Blonde’ sequel, Witherspoon said: “I need somebody really clever to come up with a great idea and we’ll do it. I do think it’s a good time to do it. I think women need that kind of positivity right now.”

Asked what Trump’s impending presidency will mean for women in the United States, she said: “It’s a great privilege to be a woman in America. We have many rights and freedoms that a lot of women don’t have all over the world.

“I try to celebrate that. I try to live that to its utmost, particularly the freedom of speech, being able to express myself, create shows like this to show how important women are in our world. That’s what I try to focus on.”

The show she’s referring to is HBO’s Big Little Lies, which debuts in the States next month.

‘Legally Blonde’ was a smash hit in 2001, leading to a sequel, ‘Red, White & Blonde’ two years later. The series about a woman studying law who is routinely looked-down upon by her peers because she’s a blonde who likes pink clothes and small dogs. Obviously, she proves all those people wrong.

Asked about the possibility of a sequel back in 2015, Witherspoon said: “I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women. And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her [Elle] be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office.”
