ITV scores rights win after landing deal to host England men's football matches
ITV has scored a rights victory after landing new a deal with UEFA to become the home of the England men’s football team from September 2024.
The broadcaster will take over the rights from Channel 4 after sealing a four-year deal to show all of England's European Qualifiers, UEFA Nations League ties and friendlies between major tournaments from next year.
The new deal will see ITV will show live, exclusive, free-to-air coverage of all England men’s football matches outside major tournament finals from September 2024 through to June 2028.
Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said: "We’re delighted to bring the England men’s team back to ITV, which keeps coverage of their progress between major tournaments on free to air television.
"We have an experienced team here who are looking forward to bringing viewers all the action and insight from England’s qualification campaigns in the coming years."
At least 40 matches - around 10 each season - will be shown on the channel, which previously held the rights for England European Qualifiers from 2018 until 2022.
ITV also currently holds the rights to show both UEFA EURO 2024 and UEFA EURO 2028, sharing coverage with the BBC.
The broadcaster also shared the rights for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 with the BBC, while ITV holds broadcast rights for the England Women’s football team matches until 2025.
The England men's team are in good shape to qualify for Euro 2024, which will take place in Germany.
The Three Lions - managed by Gareth Southgate - have won four of their five opening qualifying matches in Group C.
England's latest qualifier, against Ukraine, aired on Channel 4 earlier this month and ended a 1-1 draw.
