Jennifer Lopez has inspired mums all around the world after posting a bikini selfie on Instagram.

The 50-year-old mum of two’s post has encouraged thousands of women to post their own version of the selfie.

It has been named the #jlochallenge.

It aims to encourage mums to embrace their bodies, but it’s not about looking toned, it’s about celebrating what the bodies have achieved.

Health and fitness influencer, Maria Kang, started the challenge my posting a photo of herself in a similar bikini to the one that Lopez was wearing on Instagram.

Underneath it, she wrote the caption: “Thank you @jlo for inspiring this spontaneous pic in a white bikini this morning. Not a celebrity. Not getting millions to look great in a movie (hello, Hustlers! 🙂or dating a hot athlete (although my hubby is kinda cute!) BUT, it doesn't matter... Own your story. Create your own accountability. Don't make excuses for your inaction.”

The 39-year-old continued: “If she can do it, if I can do it, if thousands of working moms who come in all sizes, shapes and ages can do it—then YOU CAN DO IT!!!⁣" She then encouraged her 77,000 followers to post their own bathroom selfie in a bikini for the #jlochallenge.”

The post inspired thousands of women to get involved, posting their own version of the bikini selfie.

Lopez is a mum of twins, Emme and Max, 11.

The challenge isn’t just about the bikini selfie, it’s about sharing personal stories of getting back into fitness post-child birth.

The selfie is meant to represent a step out of their comfort zones.

Another mum who rose to the challenge was Billy Bean, 32.

The fitness instructor started her post with the caption “32 years young”.

“I want to be the best me I can be and that means #selfcare. I want to be there for my family and I can’t do that if I’m not at my best. My kids are not my excuses, they are my reason. Being healthy matters to our family and it should matter to everyone.”

She went on to thank Lopez for inspiring her and added: “Our lives doesn’t have to end when we become mothers, it adds to it.”
