Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who brings a monstrous creature to life in an unorthodox experiment.
As well as directing the upcoming film, Del Toro has co-written the script alongside J Miles Dale.
Other cast members include Spectre's Christoph Waltz, Ahsoka's Lars Mikkelsen and Game of Thrones stars David Bradley and Charles Dance.
They're joined by Felix Kammerer from All Quiet on the Western Front and Sweet Tooth's Christian Convery.
Del Toro first expressed his desire to make a Frankenstein film back in 2009, saying at the time: "Frankenstein is my lifelong dream, one of the primal books in my life, one of the primal monsters in my own mythology. I'm hoping I get to do that very, very much.

"If I shoot it five years from now, six years from now, it's fine by me. You have one shot in your lifetime at these things and I don't want to do it the wrong way."
Meanwhile, Frankenstein isn't the only adaptation of a classic gothic novel Elordi is set to star in.
It was recently announced that the actor will play Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell's upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation, alongside Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw.
The Emily Brontë novel centres on numerous turbulent relationships, including that of Catherine and Heathcliff.
It also explores the wider dynamics between the Earnshaw and Linton families, and the cruelty and abuse the book's characters inflict upon each other.
