Jai Courtney Thinks It’s Time To Give Terminator A Rest

‘Terminator: Genisys’ star Jai Courtney isn’t too fused about returning.

During an interview with Business Insider, the 30-year-old ‘Terminator: Genisys’ star revealed whether he’d be up for another movie… but seems to think that ‘Terminator’ is best left alone.

“I’ve certainly become unattached to the idea of it having to come around again,” he said about the prospect of yet-another ‘Terminator’ movie. “If it seems like an obvious movie to make then cool. But with ‘Terminator,’ who knows, it’s probably time to leave it where it is.”

‘Terminator: Genisys’ is the latest film in the ‘Terminator’ franchise, and saw Jai Courtney take the role of Kyle Reese – John Connor’s right-hand man in the future Resistance, who is sent back to protect Sarah Connor at all costs.

But the film was a huge mess – rewriting the timeline of earlier films and effectively seeking to rewrite ‘Terminator’ history in a cynical attempt to revitalise the franchise.

And it wasn’t exactly well-received.

In fact, ‘Terminator: Genisys’ holds a rather dismal 25% at Rotten Tomatoes… and managed a worldwide box office gross of just $440 million. Not great, considering that the film had a $155 million budget.

And let’s face it – the earlier film it attempted to rewrite was much better.

But would Jai Courtney reprise his role as Kyle Reese?

“If they can get back in there and dig around and decide there is another film to make, I’ll take the call,” he said.

Whether or not they should, is another matter entirely.

It would be sad to see ‘Terminator’ end on such a low note… but can anyone manage to top ‘Judgement Day’ at this stage? It seems like a herculean task, especially when you consider the most recent instalments.

But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
