Jake Gyllenhaal Once Wrote A Complaint Letter To KFC

One thing we’ve learned today is that you discontinue Jake Gyllenhaal’s favourite fast food snack and risk incurring his furious wrath.

For when Gyllenhaal was a younger man, he was enamoured with a certain treat from the outlet formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Speaking to reporters at the Toronto Film Festival, he told of his direct consumer action.

“I don’t know if you remember: Kentucky Fried Chicken, when I was a kid, they had these things, [Chicken Littles] … like little hamburgers, but they were fried little chicken nuggets.

“Anyway, they discontinued them, and in school, we were told to learn how to write a complaint letter, right? So I wrote a complaint letter to Kentucky Fried Chicken telling them [to bring them back].”

You tell ‘em, Jake…

The sandwiches in question were not dissimilar to the mini fillet burgers we get in the UK, but with the addition of pickles.

They were popular through the 80s and 90s, and sold for a perhaps worryingly low price of 39 cents (about 25p).

And while it took some time – around 20 years, in fact – KFC is now bringing back the sandwich to the US menu.

When told by one of the assembled reporters that they were finally back, he replied. “I think I indirectly had something to do with that!”

Now that’s surely got to fill the gap before he brings home his first Oscar…

Gyllenhaal is next up in ‘Demolition’, from 'Dallas Buyer’s Club’ and 'Wild’ helmsman Jean-Marc Vallée, and co-starring Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper.
