James Corden can be heard but not seen in the first trailer for Superintelligence.

The new film, which also stars Melissa McCarthy, follows her character Carol Peters, the most average person on Earth.

Carol is disrupted from her mundane life by an all-powerful Superintelligence who has the voice of her favourite talk show host James Corden.

The AI has chosen Carol to study so he can decide whether to enslave, save or destroy humanity. With the fate of the world in Carol's hands, she must prove that people are worth saving.

The film was written by Steve Mallory and directed by McCarthy's husband Ben Falcone, who also directed Tammy and The Boss. It also stars Bobby Cannavale and Brian Tyree Henry.

Superintelligence is scheduled to be released on November 26 through HBO Max in the US, while a UK release date has not yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Corden can actually be seen in the first trailer for Ryan Murphy's new star-packed Netflix movie The Prom.

Corden stars alongside Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Andrew Rannells, as Broadway performers who find themselves in search of a new challenge after their stage careers take a nosedive.

The Prom will debut on December 11 on Netflix.
