James Gunn and Mark Hamill finally had the epic coffee date we've all been waiting for

It's the moment fans of Star Wars and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies have been waiting for for centuries. Er, well, months. But it's felt like centuries.

It all started back in February when a fan asked director James Gunn if he could find a role for Star Wars legend Mark Hamill in the third volume of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Gunn replied that it should be easy to get together because Hamill was actually his neighbor in Malibu.

Hamill, for his part, was also down with trying to score a job.

You'd think it would just be a matter of days before the pair met up. But their schedules kept them apart. By late March, after fans were really getting anxious for something to happen, Gunn and Hamill started planning the menu.

It would take a full two months for the plan to actually materialize, but they both found themselves free on Memorial Day weekend. And BOOM:

And it sounds like the spread was really worth the wait.

The conversation was even richer, apparently. When asked what they talked about Gunn, provided an impressive list of topics.

So does the fact that the two really hit it off bode well for those who are hoping Hamill will find his way into the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie? There's no official word yet, but that hasn't stopped fans from running wild with fervent hope.

And vague threats of legal action if their dreams aren't fulfilled.

While we may have to wait a while for further word — after all it took them months just to arrange a coffee date — in the meantime we can at least amuse ourselves with the fact that they both are very pro-blue cheese.
