In this tense thriller, the doctor must race against the clock as he follows the instructions given to him by a strange voice inside his head or face dire consequences.

It's not the first time McAvoy has helmed an action movie, the star previously took on the genre in the likes of Wanted and the X-Men movies.

As part of a long-term deal with Studiocanal, The Picture Company's Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona will produce the movie which is scripted by Shipworm's Zack Akers.

Meanwhile, McAvoy is set to team up once again with producer Jason Blum and Blumhouse for another new thriller titled Speak No Evil. The His Dark Materials star previously worked with Blum and his production company on the horror thriller Split.

A remake of the hit 2022 Danish psychological horror, Speak No Evil will presumably follow similar events to the original movie.

In the original, a Danish family go and stay with a Dutch couple who they met on holiday after being invited to visit. A weekend trip to the couple's isolated house soon turns into hell for the family as they discover their friends are not quite what they seem.

Control is yet to receive a release window, while Speak No Evil will be released in cinemas on August 9, 2024.
