Anyone who recalls how fascinated Jeff Goldblum was by his own delighted description of chaos theory in Jurassic Park could tell that he probably didn’t have to dive too deep into character.

As such, his new project sounds pretty irresistible.

The Curiosity of Jeff Goldblum, currently a working title, has just been green-lit by the National Geographic channel, and will follow the inquisitive actor and jazz pianist in a state of perpetual amazement.

A documentary series, it will find Goldblum investigating the every day things that belie their fascinating backstories.

According to Nat Geo, the show ‘taps into curiosity seeker Goldblum as he embarks on a journey across the globe to uncover the extraordinary stories behind the world’s most ‘ordinary’ things’.

“It’s a fascinating universe out there, and Goldblum takes us on his unconventional ride, tackling experiments, busting myths and encountering scientific experts to reveal the astounding science that lies right beneath our eyes.”

This will take in things like balloons, ice cream, cereal, toilet paper, baseball and subways.

Goldblum himself says that it ‘puts me in the driver’s seat, guiding viewers on a mind-blowing adventure where we break down the unexpectedly complex science behind seemingly basic things’.

“National Geographic,” he added, “has a knack for developing smart, immersive narratives that expand our understanding of the world around us in creative and entertaining ways. Curiosity is a fundamental human trait.”
