Jeff Goldblum's '80s horror classic is getting a reboot
Jeff Goldblum's 1986 horror The Fly is getting a reboot.
The David Cronenberg-directed film, which is a remake of a 1958 film of the same name, stars Goldblum as an eccentric scientist who begins to transform into a giant man/fly hybrid after one of his experiments goes wrong.
According to Deadline, Nanny filmmaker Nikyatu Jusu is set to write and direct a new film based on the body horror movie for 20th Century Studios.

However, the new project is reportedly set in the universe of The Fly, rather than being a remake.
The Fly was well-received by critics at the time of its release and is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive score of 93%.
"David Cronenberg combines his trademark affinity for gore and horror with strongly developed characters, making The Fly a surprisingly affecting tragedy," reads the site's critical consensus.
Blink Twice's Geena Davis and The Last of Us actor John Getz also star.

Back in 2018, Goldblum said he would be up for returning for a sequel despite his character meeting a gruesome fate.
"I don't think my character would be involved because of course I got tragically mutated with the fly and then the machine, oh boy," he said at the time.
"But maybe I show up as a grandchild of the original Seth Brundle, or Seth Brundle had a brother. Had a brother that emerges in some ways!
"Who knows, I don't know but [director] David Cronenberg was a thrill to work with. Boy, if he was involved I'd like to work with him again, I'll tell you that."
The Fly did produce a 1989 sequel without Cronenberg, but it was largely panned by critics.
