While Collins has not been linked to the actual leak of the photos, he engaged in a phishing scheme to obtain the usernames and logins for the accounts, before sending emails which appeared to be from Google and Apple.

He hacked 50 iCloud accounts and 72 Gmail accounts, and used software to download the contents of his victims’ entire iCloud back ups.

As well as stealing pictures from Lawrence, he also stole pictures and data from singer Ariana Grande, Kate Upton, Rihanna and Avril Lavigne.

He could have been sentenced to as much as five years, but received a reduced sentence after pleading guilty to the charges.

The hacks occurred in 2014, and made headlines around the world.
