Jennifer Lopez was the latest celebrity to join Oprah Winfrey on stage for her Oprah 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour. Sitting down on Leap Day, the powerful women discussed Lopez’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, her relationship with Alex Rodriguez and Lopez’s reaction to her Oscars snub.

“I was sad ... I was a little sad. Because there was a lot of build up to it,” Lopez said about not being nominated for Hustlers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I got so many good notices, like more than ever in my career, and there was a lot of like, 'She’s gonna get nominated for an Oscar.' I’m reading all the articles and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, could this happen?’ And then it didn’t, and I was like, ‘Ouch!’ It was a little bit of a letdown. Also, I felt like my whole team — most of my team has been with me for years, 20, 25 years — and I think they had a lot of hopes on that and they wanted it too, so I felt like I let everyone down a little bit.”

Lopez then addressed that sadness in front of the 13,000 people in the audience. "I had to re-examine like, 'Why do you do this, what are you so sad about right now? You just had the most amazing year of your life — you just had the biggest opening of a movie in your career, you just walked the runway in Milan and had a fashion moment, you’re doing the Super Bowl in a couple of weeks, what is it?'

"You want people’s validation," she added. "You want people to say you did a good job, and I realized, 'No you don’t need that, you do this because you love it,’ eventually realizing that I don't need this award right here to tell me that I am enough.”

Later in the conversation Lopez spoke about her relationship with Rodriguez saying, “It was different than anything I had ever experienced in the sense of … his consistency. What he says, he does. Every time. And that is big," she said. "And he also wants to build together, which I’ve never had ... I’ve never had somebody who wants to see me shine and grow. I think him being in my life is a big part of what happened this year."

In the conversation, the women also touched on the fact that Lopez is redefining what it means to be 50. At the end of the conversation Winfrey asked, "Are there some days you just look at yourself in the mirror and go, 'Damn'?"

While the audience laughed and applauded, Lopez admitted, "There are days where I'll look in the mirror or I'm getting out the shower and looking at myself and I'm like 'Ah, you're sexy,' and I feel myself every once in a while."
