Jenny Agutter cuts down on wine and cheese to avoid weight gain
Jenny Agutter cuts down on cheese and sugary snacks when her clothes start to feel "too tight".
The 68-year-old actress - who plays Sister Julienne in BBC period drama 'Call the Midwife' - maintains her figure by cutting down on her vices, which include wine and sweets, when she wants to lose a few pounds, but she doesn't go on any diets as such.
In an interview with Woman and Home magazine, she said: “I do not want to change my clothes size, so every time something gets tight, I just go, 'Right, less cheese, no butter and cream, no sugar and sweets, no wine.' And I just don't eat quite so much.
“People who go on diets become obsessed with food and all you think about is eating.
“I love food, I just don't go overboard if my clothes get too tight!”
Jenny will once again appear in a 'Call the Midwife' Christmas special later this year, and the star was "so pleased" to be able to play Sister Julienne - who she has portrayed on the show since 2012 - in a festive episode in 2020, amid the coronavirus pandemic's stricter restrictions.
She said: "I was so pleased we were able to get back to filming for last year’s Christmas special, I think the BBC wanted to make it happen for families during that time.
"We all felt that it was important.
"We all felt, whatever the circumstances – and for some people the pandemic has been dire at times, with isolation and the lack of community – it felt like a good thing to do."
