Jesse Eisenberg Compares Comic-Con Experience To 'Genocide'

So Jesse Eisenberg has likely tarnished his reputation among comic book fans for the foreseeable future, after letting loose about his experience at Comic-Con in San Diego this year.

The ‘Social Network’ star attended the annual movie and comic business beano in his capacity as Lex Luthor in 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’.

He appeared for a panel discussion with co-stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Godot, Jeremy Irons, Amy Adams, Holly Hunter and director Zack Snyder.

But he had little complimentary to say about meeting his current and perhaps future fans.

Speaking at the premiere of new movie 'End of the Tour’, co-starring Jason Segel, he said of his experience: “It is like being screamed at by thousands of people.

“I don’t know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide.

“I can’t think of anything that’s equivalent.”

In fact, he appeared to have been somewhat traumatised by his experience.

“Maybe on some cellular memory level, that’s the only thing that seems like an equivalent social experience,” he went on.

“Even if they’re saying nice things, just being shouted at by thousands of people, it’s horrifying.”

Segel, who was also there and has also attended the event, chimed in: “Whether it’s positive or negative, it’s still a mob.”

“Yeah, it’s a mob. Yeah,” Eisenberg went on, continuing to dig the hole he may find it tricky to get out of.

“They were one torch away from burning me. I’m a normal person with like normal reactions to things, so of course it’s going to be terrifying.

“If you like that kind of thing and feed off of it in some way, you must have a miserable life.

“You know, but it’s such an honour to be a part of the film. No, I mean everybody liked the movie. That was the important thing.

“The screaming was terrifying… We were on the kind of scary end of it.”

He’s since sought to clarify his remarks, saying: “I of course was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload I experienced. I sometimes do employ that.

“I’m a normal person who has normal sensory experiences, so Comic-Con was very overwhelming for me. That said, it was really an honour to be on that end of such jubilation.”

But Fans are, as one would expect, still somewhat outraged by the remarks.
