Yahoo Movies Jim Carrey thinks a 'Truman Show' sequel would be particularly prescient
Jim Carrey has been involved in some of the most popular movies of the last 30 years.
After rising to fame in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, he quickly became the most popular comedian in the world thanks to its follow-up, Dumb And Dumber, The Mask, and Liar Liar.

Which made it all the more surprising when he followed up the latter with the 1998 sci-fi drama The Truman Show, which revolves around his titular character being adopted by a television company, who then simulate and film his entire life, all without him knowing. Once he makes this discovery, he then looks to escape.
During a recent interview with Collider, Carrey was asked which of the above films he would like to revisit today. Rather than selecting one of his famous comedies, the actor decided on The Truman Show as he believes it would be particularly prescient in a modern context.
“I think The Truman Show is something that exists on a micro level now,” Carrey explained. “It was kind of a story about that on a macro level. But now everybody has a subscriber channel. Everybody has their own little Truman Show world. There’s something to be had there.”

“I often think, and am asked about, what would have happened to Truman when he goes outside the wall. It took me a while to realize that basically, he was alone out there, too, because everybody went back inside. They all wanted to be in the dome.”
The success of The Truman Show back in 1998 means that a sequel or remake might be of interest to Hollywood studios, as it grossed over $264.1 million at the box office and was critically acclaimed, while Carrey even won the Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the 56th Golden Globe Awards, too.
