Jo Brand has said she has no desire to replace departing Sandi Toksvig as presenter of The Great British Bake Off.

Brand, 62, host of Bake Off’s sister show An Extra Slice, has declared she "wouldn't consider" stepping into Toksvig's shoes on the show following the Danish-born star's announcement that she would be leaving the competition after three series.

"I actually really love doing Extra Slice," Brand told Claudia Winkleman on BBC Radio 2. "I think there's a lot more freedom to muck about, there's so many different elements to the show. There's a lovely team of people, I love working with Tom Allen."

"So Tom, if you're listening, you better not get that job!" she went on to jest.

Toksvig, 61, had been one-half of the show's presenting duo alongside Noel Fielding since its move from BBC One to Channel 4 in 2017.

Announcing her departure on Thursday 16 January, the comedian said she wanted to “spend more time with [her] other work”.

Fielding paid tribute to his colleague on social media, telling his Twitter followers he felt "like Tom without Jerry".

He also posted a picture of the original cartoon cat and mouse Tom and Jerry to Instagram, writing: “Good double acts are a rare and magical beast! I’m gonna miss Sandi comically and personally but i also know we were lucky to have her for 3 amazing years!

“Wish you all the best in your next adventures x x love Noel x.”

Other names tipped to replace Toksvig include former GBBO winner Nadiya Hussain and presenter Emma Willis, but there has been no official word on who it will be.
