Joanna Page was burned in an accident on the 'Gavin and Stacey' set.

The 47-year-old actress plays Stacey Shipman for the final time in the upcoming Christmas special of the comedy series and she was feeling so emotional about saying goodbye, she accidentally tipped "boiling hot" coffee over herself backstage after she had been crying in her trailer with an assistant director.

In a preview of her interview with The Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine, she said: "On the last day on set, I was thinking ‘pull yourself together’, but I was in such a state I knocked my boiling hot coffee over myself in make-up.

“I had to get the costume department to wash my clothes."

But Joanna thinks the injury was "good" because it gave her the "shock" she needed to get her emotions in check.

She added: It was good, as the shock of being scalded shook me out of it.”

The actress and her co-star Mathew Horne, who plays her on-screen husband Gavin Shipman, recently told how they shared an emotional moment together after shooting their final scene.

Joanna said: "Right at the very end, on our last bit of filming, I just got this sense of calm wash over me.

"I remember standing there and looking around at everybody and everybody's faces, and I just remember smiling quite calmly to myself and thinking ‘wow, look where we've all come, look where we all are now’.

"I delivered my last lines, the way that I wanted to, and the way that I needed to, and then when they shouted, “it's a wrap” and then they clapped all of us goodbye and I just hugged Mat, and we both stood there crying."

Mathew added: "[It was] incredibly emotional. It felt very much like the end of an era, but the love and friendship between the cast - my second family - will not end. There’s something very beautiful about that. Gavin Shipman will be on my epitaph, I assume, but the show will live on long after I’m gone."
