Joe Wicks has delivered his final workout as the “nation's PE teacher” during the coronavirus pandemic after 18 weeks.

He will now be taking a well-deserved break from the weekday livestreams, with the father-of-two stating he needs to "recharge his batteries".

For the final lesson, 33-year-old Wicks decorated his living room, where all the workouts have taken place, with balloons, bunting and a “thank you” banner.

His wife Rosie Jones and children Indie, 23 months, and Marley, six months, joined him for the finale as he let off party poppers and thanked everyone who had taken part.

He said he would be back "after a little break" for more live workouts throughout the year.

The evening before the last workout, he shared to Instagram: "I think I’m going to really miss it to be honest. I started it the week that schools went into lockdown because I wanted to help support parents and help children find some happiness, use some energy and feel safe through this time.

"I really do believe I achieved that. Never did I imagine families all over the world would come together to take part. 80 million views is hard to comprehend but this truly is my proudest achievement. Thank you for joining me."

Wicks has been a mainstay for many youngsters learning from home throughout the UK lockdown and subsequent easing of restrictions, only taking one brief break following an injury he was replaced by his wife.
