All of this meant that Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville was given a chance to toss out the ceremonial first pitch before the game. Quenneville said it had been quite a bit since he had thrown a baseball, although he’s had plenty of practice hurling obscenities at referees.
As you can see in this clip, it had been a while since Quenneville had thrown a baseball.

Jussssst a bit outside. And short of the plate. Really, Derek Holland, don’t worry about getting a passed ball on that one.
After the attempt, Quenneville admitted it was terrible.
“I was a little nervous. I hadn’t thrown a baseball in a while. But that was brutal. That was an awful one. You could say that was a bad, bad shot or like a fan on a shot. You could just say that was embarrassing almost,” he told the Chicago Tribune.
He reiterated that he hadn’t practiced at all. “Not that it would have made much of a difference,” he said.
Honestly, just do what the Blackhawks do every season and let Toews handle it.
