Joey Barton 'emphatically' denies all allegations after Barnsley incident

Joey Barton is ‘emphatically’ denying all allegations after an incident at Barnsley on Saturday.

Fleetwood Town manager Barton is alleged to have been at the centre of an altercation with Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel.

And Barton has taken to Twitter to deny allegations against him.

“With regards to the alleged incident on Saturday following our game against Barnsley, I emphatically deny all the allegations made,” the 36-year-old said.

“Given this matter has not been formally closed, it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment.”

South Yorkshire Police confirmed on Wednesday that a man had been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault.

A statement read: "Officers investigating an incident at Barnsley Football Club on Saturday April, 13 have arrested a man on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault.

"The man attended at a police station and was arrested today, Wednesday April 17.

"He remains in police custody for questioning.”
