Johnny Depp absent from first Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge teaser trailer
Disney has released the first trailer for the fifth film in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise, and Johnny Depp is conspicuous in his absence.
The title of the film has also been changed for the UK market, so the film known in the rest of the world as ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’, is now ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ on these fair shores.
The short teaser for the film shows Javier Bardem’s undead sea farer Capitan Salazar delivering a threat to Jack Sparrow via Brenton Thwaites’ character.
“Jack Sparrow – do you know this pirate?” Salazar asks the seaman.
“Only by name,” Thwaites’ Henry replies.
“Find Sparrow for me, and relay a message from Capitan Salazar, and tell him: Death will come straight for him. Will you say that to him? Please?”
According to Empire Online, Salazar is a former cohort of Sparrow, and he’s hunting the drunken sailor with his undead shipmates after escaping from the Devil’s Triangle.
Jack joins forces with astronomer (Kaya Scodelario) and Royal Navy sailor Henry to track down the Trident of Poseidon, their only hope for battling Salazar and his crew.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ is coming to cinemas in 2017.
