Depp arrived by helicopter – along with co-star Stephen Graham – to surprise patients wearing full Jack Sparrow regalia and speaking in his character’s English accent.

The actor, currently shooting the fifth instalment in the franchise ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Down Under, posed for pictures and chatted with kids in the ward.

He also demonstrated his paternal instincts by chatting with a boy called Carter, admitting he didn’t know how to spell his name before giving him some treasure.

Meanwhile, he took pictures and made jokes, saying, “If there’s other people in it, why do you call it a selfie?”

He finished his visit with a group photo where he was asked to look happy.

His cheeky reply? “I wet myself, that’s how happy I am.”

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ will be released in 2017.
