Jon Favreau: Elf Still Hasn't Made A Profit

Jon Favreau still hasn’t made any money from ‘Elf’.

The 48-year-old actor-and-director made the festive comedy - which stars Will Ferrell - in 2003 and despite the fact it is regularly repeated on TV around the world over the Christmas period, he insists it hasn’t been as profitable venture as much of his other work, including the ‘Iron Man’ movies.

He said: “‘Elf’ which shows every year here, when I look at the paperwork, it’s not making profit yet. ‘Iron Man’, that’s a different story.”

According to box office mojo, ‘Elf’ made £142 million at the box office, with a budget of only £33 million.

Despite an extensive filmography, Jon is most recognised for a six-episode stint in defunct sit-com ‘Friends’, in which he played Monica Geller’s boyfriend Pete Becker, but he insists he doesn’t mind the role overshadowing the rest of his work.

He said: “I love it all actually, the first time I came here [to the UK] I was promoting ‘Swingers’, about 18 years ago, I did ‘Friends’ right after that, and it was always as big, if not bigger here than the States, so the six episodes I did were my calling card.”
