Jonathan Majors Is 'Phenomenal' as Kang the Conqueror, Says Marvel Producer

Comic book fans still have a while to wait before the iconic supervillain Kang the Conqueror makes his official debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but all signs point towards him being a huge deal. And we now have it on good authority that Da 5 Bloods and Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors is bringing his A-game as the character.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Brian Gay, executive producer of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, described Majors' performance as "incredible" and promised that his interpretation of Kang is going to be an "incredible presence" in the long-running movie series.

"Jonathan is a phenomenal actor and comes in prepared and so thoughtful," he said. "And I think part of the fun is that we got someone who is so talented that he can play as they say in Loki, the low keys and the high keys, and go across the whole range with him. I'm so excited for everyone to see the incredible work he's done. I think that he's an incredible presence on the MCU. And when he steps on screen, you know that Kang is there. He gives that embodiment and that gravitas that's so focal to that character."

Majors first appeared in the MCU as the timeless being He Who Remains in the Season 1 finale of Disney+ show Loki. When he shows up again in the upcoming Quantumania, it will be as Kang, a multiverse variant of his first character who will function as a Thanos-level bad guy for Phase Five, culminating in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
