Jonathan Murray Nabs Santa Monica Mini-Manse

Reality television pioneer Jonathan Murray has made an under-the-radar, $11.67 million purchase of a vaguely Plantation-style mini-mansion on what is arguably one of Santa Monica’s most coveted and expensive streets. Since the deal went down off-market, we were unable to turn up any digital listing details but, per the L.A. County tax man, the two-parcel property encompasses a total of 0.55 acres above the ritzy Riviera Country Club, where membership reportedly costs upwards of a quarter million bucks, and members include Ari Emanuel, Adam Sandler and Jon Feltheimer.

Online resources show the existing house was built in 1997, with four bedrooms and six bathrooms in just about 6,000 square feet. The picket-fenced property features a quadruple-columned portico entry, a gated motor court, lushly landscaped gardens and a swimming pool shimmering below a trellis-shaded terrace along the back of the house.

As it turns out, this isn’t the only multimillion dollar residential property in Santa Monica owned by the money-minting “Real World” co-creator and “Project Runway” executive producer. (For a time, Mister Murray also co-produced all those vapid but wildly popular Kardashian family shows, but we digress. … ) In April 2012, the 10-time Emmy nominee and two-time Emmy winner shelled out $3.95 million for a five-bedroom, shingle-sided bungalow just half a mile from his new house and, just over a year later, he sold a not-quite three-acre estate in Topanga, Calif., to his next door neighbor, Hyatt Hotels heir Anthony Pritzker, for $2.65 million.
