Back in 2006, Josh Brolin weighed a lean, mean 167 pounds (that’s just under 12 stone).

These days, he’s filled out to a rather more portly 240 pounds (just over 17 stone), the last 40 of which were stacked on for his role in new comedy ‘The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter’.

He popped up this handy comparison shot on his Instagram earlier this week, the former picture looking distinctly Travis Bickle-esque, the latter busting his girthsome chops and a trucker’s cap.

Brolin, 48, added the hashtag ‘#afilmbyoliverstone’ to a second post, having starred in Oliver Stone movies ‘W.’ in 2008 and ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ in 2010.

The movie requiring the considerably chunkier Brolin has been put together by some of the crew behind ‘Eastbound & Down’, and also stars Kenny Powers himself, Danny McBride.

He appeared on Jimmy Fallon in the US last January while he was making the movie, unbuttoning his shirt to show off his belly, and adding: “I have to get rid of this weight.”

Well, clearly he’s managed it before.

Brolin has a few solid projects coming up too, with the George Clooney-directed ‘Suburbicon’, penned by the Coen Brothers, and crime thriller ‘Soldado’, the sequel to ‘Sicario’, also on the way.
