Jude Bellingham is 'far from ready' for Real Madrid admits former Borussia Dortmund forward
Jude Bellingham remains on the transfer radar of Real Madrid ahead of the transfer window, though one former Borussia Dortmund man doesn't think it's the right move at this time.
Michael Rummenigge, who won two cups with BVB during his five-year spell at the club, is not convinced that Bellingham is ready to thrive in Madrid.
"The development has been very positive, but the player is far from the end of his development," he told Der Westen.
The 59-year-old pointed to a recent 3-3 draw with Stuttgart to back up his point of view.
He added: "He attacks, presses in front all by himself. Even though there were only a few minutes left to play. Instead of walling up at the back and taking the lead over time, he wanted to attack even more up front. "Things like that make me scratch my head. You have to use your brain more." Rummenigge has also urged the England international to take advice from more experienced players. He said: "Such a young player has to think about it, that he should also listen to the older players." When asked about the proposed move to Real Madrid, Rummenigge added: "He's still a long way from the end of his development. He's far from ready to be a regular at Real Madrid." Since arriving in Dortmund back in 2020, the player has made 131 appearances across all competitions - scoring 23 goals in the process.
The ongoing campaign has been Bellingham's best in terms of goalscoring, with the player finding the back of the net 13 times in 41 outings.
The England international has claimed just one piece of silverware with the club, lifting the DFB Pokal in 2021. Nevertheless, Bellingham could yet end the season on a high as Borussia continue to push for the Bundesliga title.
