Jack Black must have had a great time starring alongside Kevin Hart in the rebooted Jumanji series, because the actor has signed up to join Hart in the upcoming Borderlands adaptation.

Following the news that Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett had been cast in the big-screen take on the popular game, Variety is now reporting that Jack Black has signed on to the project, too.

Black is set to voice the role of sarcastic robot Claptrap in the movie, in a move that will no doubt delight fans – including Borderlands director Eli Roth.

Roth, who worked with both Black and Blanchett on 2018's The House with a Clock in Its Walls, said that he was "so excited" to have the actor aboard. "I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth," he enthused.

"Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen."

Lionsgate big boss Nathan Kahane echoed Roth's comments, saying the team were "thrilled" with the news. "We couldn't have been more in sync with our filmmakers and casting executives as we approached this role," Kahane said.
