Jurassic World Makes A Billion Internationally

Great news, dinosaur fans: Colin Trevorrow’s ‘Jurassic World’ has now take an incredible $1 billion (and counting) at the international box office.

The fourth ‘Jurassic’ movie is only the fourth movie in history to break this record, joining James Cameron’s double of 1997′s ‘Titanic’ and 2009′s ‘Avatar’, along with this year’s ‘Fast & Furious 7′.

Each has now taken over a billion dollars outside of the US, which is an impressive feat. But to have seen it happen twice in the space of a few months just shows what a strong year 2015 has been for box office grossing.

In total, ‘Jurassic World’ has almost amassed $1.65 billion, with $648 million from US cinemas, meaning it’s tipped the billion dollar mark with its global success.

It only took 13 days (a lucky number in Universal’s case) to make $1 billion, exceeding all expectations. But since then, and indeed its opening weekend, it has continued to make more and more money, wowing fans and critics alike.

Jurassic World’ is still a long way off from catching either ‘Avatar’ or ‘Titanic’ which have taken $2 billion and $1.5 billion outside of the US, respectively. In fact, it still trails ‘Fast & Furious 7′ which ended its international run on $1.16 billion.

Already, a sequel has been announced for a follow-up to ‘Jurassic World’, and is due in cinemas in June, 2018.
