Jurassic World Officially Gets A Sequel

After the huge success of ‘Jurassic World’, it looks as though a sequel is officially on the cards… and will see the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Officially announced by Universal Pictures, it looks as though the inevitable ‘Jurassic World’ sequel is definitely going ahead. And who can blame them – with ‘Jurassic World’ reaching a staggering $1.52 billion at the box office, it’s proved that there’s still plenty of life in the prehistoric film franchise.

Starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, ‘Jurassic World’ stunned cinemagoers with the next instalment of the ‘Jurassic Park’ saga – heading back to the original island to find out exactly what happened to all of those impressive creations.

And the story isn’t going to end there.

“The #JurassicWorld Sequel will be released on Friday, June 22, 2018,” they revealed. And the folks at Variety confirm that both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be returning for the next instalment.

Unfortunately, there’s no news on who will be stepping up to direct the ‘Jurassic World’ sequel… and while Colin Trevorrow will return to co-write the film with Derek Connolly, it looks as though he’s already ruled himself out of the director’s chair.

“Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie,” he told Entertainment Weekly before the film’s release. “I would be involved in some way, but not as director.”

Of course, quite where the sequel will go from here remains to be seen.

The island has been evacuated and while the Indominus Rex has been toppled, it looks as though the dinosaurs have managed to claim the island for themselves. Will Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard be forced to return, or will the dinosaurs manage to flee the island, too?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But it sounds as though Universal is already onto another winner.

‘Jurassic World 2’ heads to cinemas on 22 June 2018.
