Justice League and Power Rangers get comic book crossover

2017 will see two iconic super-teams light up the big screen – but on top of that, they’ll also meet for the first time, in the pages of a new comic book.

Yes, the Justice League and the Power Rangers are set to cross over in a new six issue mini-series to be co-published by DC Comics and BOOM! Studios.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Justice League/Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers’ will see “the Black Ranger end up in the DC Universe after their teleporters are damaged as the result of their command center being broken into, leaving the other Rangers to work out a way to save him before Batman steps in to investigate the mysterious new arrival.”

It appears the Power Rangers in question will be those of the 1990s TV series, as opposed to the new incarnations from the upcoming movie, as these are the characters used in the existing ‘Power Rangers’ comics from BOOM! Studios.

The artwork below would appear to confirm this, as the costumes match those of the TV show; plus the Green Ranger is among them, and this character isn’t expected in the 2017 film.

In a statement, DC representative Hank Kanalz calls the comic “a dream come true for fans of Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the Justice League.

"Stories like this are a great way to have that ‘what if’ itch scratched, combining favorite characters from different publishers in epic adventures.”

‘Justice League/Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers’ will be written by Tom Taylor with art by Stephen Byrne, with the first issue going on sale January 2017.

This will be followed by the cinematic release of ‘Power Rangers’ on 24 March, and ‘Justice League’ on 17 November 2017.
