Justin Timberlake has confirmed that he and Jessica Biel welcomed their second child, another son, six months ago.

The 39-year-old actor and singer made the announcement on The Ellen Degeneres Show, with host Ellen sharing a clip from their upcoming interview on Instagram.

"You're a dad again," Ellen announces, before recalling how he had told her news on FaceTime last year, when Jessica had walked into the room and he put his hand on her bump.

"Yes, you're one of the first people outside our immediate family that we told," Justin explained.

The Trolls star then revealed the name of his six-month-old - Phineas, before describing him as "awesome" and "so cute".

"And nobody is sleeping," he joked. "But we're all thrilled. We're thrilled and couldn't be happier, very grateful."

Timberlake and Biel married in October 2012, and welcomed their first child, Silas Randall, 5, in April 2015.

The Sinner actress previously revealed that they had planned to have Silas at their family home in LA, but their plans fell apart when she had to be transferred to hospital for an emergency caesarean.

"When all our plans fell apart and the serene, natural childbirth we had envisioned ended with a transfer to the hospital and an emergency C-section, we arrived home exhausted, disillusioned, and totally in shock," Biel recalled in her former nanny Connie Simpson's parenting book called Secrets to Mastering the First Four Months of Parenthood.

"I was obsessed with everything organic, toxin-free, natural, and homeopathic for our kid, who came into this world in an operating room through an incision. I was a dictator, making myself and my husband insane!"

Biel also paid tribute to Timberlake for being such a patient and involved dad by sharing a photo of him with Silas on his shoulders, adding the caption: "To the dad who not only protects and provides but most importantly, PLAYS, and puts up with all our shenanigans. And teaches and guides and comforts and accepts and respects.

"Being a dad can sometimes be a thankless job, but today we hope you know how important you are in our lives. We love you forever and ever and a day. Love mom and Silas."

Congratulations, Justin and Jessica!
