Karen Gillan Gets A ‘Bigger Role’ In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ sees the return of Nebula… and it looks as though Karen Gillan will be getting even more screen time.

According to James Gunn – director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ – the 28-year-old actress will be ‘very much’ in the upcoming sequel.

“Karen is here in Atlanta now I believe, unless she went home for a few days,” he said during a Facebook Q&A. “It’s exciting to have Karen Gillan and Michael Rooker around more. It’s really been fun… So far we’ve had a marvellous time.”

And this is exactly what director James Gunn told us back in 2014.

“I have so many plans for Nebula,” he said during our exclusive interview. “I love Nebula. I fell in love with the design of Nebula. I cast the role around that design. I fell in love with Karen [Gillan] as a person, and I love the character of Nebula.”

It certainly sounds as though some of James Gunn’s plans for the character are starting to come together… but what that means for Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians remains to be seen.

“To me, she’s the Boba Fett of the movie,” he explained, likening Nebula to the infamous Bounty Hunter who first appeared in ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’. “She’s the one that you really dig because she’s the cool one that we need to get more of. I hope to god that we get a chance to see a lot more of Nebula.”

Does this mean we’ll see her chasing the guardians across the galaxy? Will she manage to encase Star-Lord in carbonite before dragging him back to her boss?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see…

Either way, it’s great to see Karen Gillan return.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ heads to cinemas on 28 April 2017.
