Karen Gillan talks Guardians of the Galaxy / Avengers crossover

New Marvel villainess wants to take on Tony Stark

Starring in the upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy' it seems that Karen Gillan's fight with Nova Corps isn't enough… as she reveals she wants to take on the Avengers.

It's one of Marvel's weirdest properties to date and so far 'Guardians of the Galaxy' has seen Vin Diesel cast as a talking tree while Karen Gillan shaves her head for the villainous role of Nebula. But it seems that Karen might be getting a bit too used to her new look as she reveals she'd love to star as nebula once more… in a Guardians / Avengers crossover.

In an interview with Total Film, she revealed that while she hasn't heard about a potential crossover, she'd certainly love to take part.

"That sounds really cool," she said. "Not something I've heard anything about though… That would be amazing! I'd be open to that."

Of course, there's been nothing official when it comes to a Guardians /Avengers crossover but the idea is certainly an interesting one. After all, with 'Guardians of the Galaxy' taking part in Marvel's Phase Two, it seems unlikely that they'll remain a completely stand-alone franchise forever.

Not to mention the appearance of Thanos at the end of 'Avengers Assemble' and his obvious influence in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' mythology…

But when it comes to the Avengers, which of them would Karen Gillan love to meet?

"Iron Man," she said after taking a moment to think about it. "Robert Downey Jr's really funny. I just love the tone of the Iron Man films. You can really see Robert Downey Jr's influence on those films. I love how they talk over each other - there's like, all these two-shots and there's such a specific tone to all of the acting that I really love in those films."

Obviously, the tone of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is likely to be a little bit different… with the mish-mash of weird and wonderful characters and its out-of-this-world setting, I get the feeling it'll have to be. But what sets it apart from the Avengers?

"What's different about Guardians is that everybody is a bad guy," Karen explained. "There's just good guys within the bad guys."

Considering Star-Lord's rather rogueish ways, I can see what she means, but how this will play out on the big-screen remains to be seen. But perhaps most interestingly, we can assume from her reaction to reprising her role that Nebula doesn't die… could she be a potential villain (alongside Thanos) for Avengers 3? For now, we'll have to wait and see.
