“I am extremely excited to join forces once again with Arturo Pérez-Reverte, especially in a story set in my country. Arturo is undoubtedly a great lover of Mexico’s history… a history that I learned and love thanks to my father and my roots. Arturo and I share a successful professional partnership, and I am confident that ‘Revolución’ will strengthen that success,” she said.
Published in October 2022, “Revolución” delves into the essence of human nature in an adventure that unfolds against the dramatic canvas of the Mexican Revolution in the era of Emiliano Zapata and Francisco Villa.
Said Endemol Shine Boomdog CEO Alejandro Rincón: “Arturo Pérez-Reverte is a masterful storyteller, and this endeavor is an exceptional addition to our diverse slate. We see a big potential in adapting this narrative into a captivating series that will resonate with our audience.”
“I am interested in seeing how the Endemol Shine Boomdog team brings the characters and moments of this novel to a series that will likely satisfy both new and loyal readers and followers. It’s a fresh approach to a story of action, love, and adventure that I hold dear since I conceived and wrote it, and I am sure its outcome will be excellent,” said Pérez-Reverte, a Spanish author and journalist who has seen several of his books adapted into either film or television, including “The Fencing Master,” “Captain Alatriste” and “Comanche Territory” among many others.
Endemol Shine Boomdog, part of Banijay Americas, and Cholawood Productions have been partners since they signed an overall production deal in 2019. Cholawood was founded by Del Castillo and entertainment industry exec Carmen Cervantes and journalist Jessica Maldonado.
First out the gate from the deal was “A Beautiful Lie” (“Volver a caer”) a contemporary Spanish-language take on Leo Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina,” now streaming on ViX.
In recent news announced at Content Americas, Del Castillo is set to play iconic Mexican ranchera singer Chavela Vargas in the upcoming Caracol Television and Miracol Media bio-series, “Chavela.”
