Kate Garraway's 'GMB' colleagues voice support after husband Derek's hospitalised over coronavirus

Kate Garraway's Good Morning Britain colleagues have sent their well-wishes to her and husband Derek Draper who has had to receive emergency care for the coronavirus.

Piers Morgan offered up his "love and prayers" to the couple after a spokesperson of Garraway's shared on Friday that her spouse was being treated in intensive care with a "confirmed case of COVID-19".

"The GMB Now it’s been made public, I can say this horrendous situation has brought the Coronavirus crisis sharply into the hearts of all of us @GMB," he tweeted. "My love & prayers to Kate & Derek.”

"All my love to Kate and Derek," Susanna Reid posted, along with a red love heart emoji.

Garraway's co-star Ben Shephard also sent his love to the family, including the couple's two children, daughter Darcey, 14, and 10-year-old son Billy.

“Just wanted to send all my love to @kategarraway Darcey and Billy. Sending Derek strength and positivity. Love to everyone going through this right now,” he commented.

Draper was admitted to hospital on Monday.

The spokesperson also shared that the mother-of-two had been displaying mild symptoms, although hadn't been tested at the time.

Another member of the ITV family has also been closely affected by the virus as Judge Rinder disclosed on This Morning on Friday that his grandfather had died of the virus.

He told the ITV show’s hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: “The thing is that he survived the Second World War and he was a man that determined and conspired to see joy in the world.

“As much as there is terrible and appalling news out there, we also as a community, as neighbours, as a country, need to remember that there are thousands of people who are recovering from this disease every single day. That our police are doing their very best, our frontline workers are too and that we as a nation are responding positively.

“That’s absolutely the message that I know that he would have wanted to share.”
